E-Cigarettes: The Number One Resolution.

As a 2 packs day smoker I don't need anyone to tell me how ridiculous it sounds that I could drop the wicked weeds in one afternoon, and without ever looking back. But that’s exactly what I'm here to say and whats more it's the gods honest truth.

I had been smoking since 1975. In the Seventies everyone smoked. Astronauts smoked, Doctors smoked,The President smoked. I mean how crazy is it that a mere 40 years ago damn near every single person in the country was smoking or breathing second hand smoke. And yet there are still people left to tell the tale. Anyway.

I quit smoking in May. And when I say smoking I mean I quit applying fire to tobacco in order to immolate it and ingest the gases thereby produced. I quit with three cigarettes in the pack. The pack sat on my dresser for six months. I did not reach for it one time.

As a Nicotine replacement I chose to use an electronic cigarette. At that time I had no thought to quitting nicotine. I simply wanted to stop smoking my lungs with harmful pollutants. And I wanted to get my oxygen levels up which meant I needed to get my CO levels down. I did my research as I fully expect you to do yours.

Now the E-cigarette is not sold as a smoking cessation device. And a majority of users are no more interested in quitting nicotine then I was. There are many other reasons that the E-cigarette is becoming more and more attractive. Here are a few.

  1. Safety: The E-cigarette is not on fire. If you drop it on the floor even while using it it is not going to cause harm or damage to the floor or whoever picks it up. Millions of fires have been started by people falling asleep smoking. This will never happen with an E-cigarette.
  2. Health: There is contention with various health organizations regarding the medical dangers associated with E-Cigarette usage. Many of these are based on the fact that there are conflicting reports concerning the ingredients of the vapor. Health organizations are supposed to be slow to change. They will require studies and so forth. For now I am personally convinced that they are a healthier alternative to smoking. You will need to do your research and make up your own mind.
  3. Environment: The vapor exhausted by the user contains none of the harmful chemicals contained in second hand smoke, none. Again there are four basic ingredients in vapor water, glycol, alcohol, and flavoring. Nicotine is optional and if used does not aspirate rather absorbs into the mouth and lungs. Again I don't say their safe I say the danger is of a different nature and that it is less harmful then combustion.
  4. Dosage Control: If you choose to use nicotine the E-cigarette gives you far better control over the dosage. A combination of liquid nicotine strength, percentage and frequency of use. Unlike a Cigarette an E-cigarette is only in use when you use it. There is no waste. Take a puff or three or twenty. It's completely up to you when your done its done.
  5. Cost: Lets face it the government has taxed the price of tobacco products into the stratosphere. The cost of using an E-cigarette is much lower then its equivalent in tobacco products. And it contains no tobacco. After the initial cost of the device the average pack a day smoker can save upwards of three dollars a day over the average cost of cigarettes.
This is only a short list of the benefits over tobacco. Users will tell you of a myriad of other benefits such as eliminating nicotine, regaining lung strength, improvements in smell and taste. Non smoking friends and family members will notice the distinct lack of smoke stink in your clothing hair and breath. And consider that using a PV you are no longer ingesting carbon dioxide thus your oxygen levels return to normal and all of your organs rely on that statistic.

A lot of people would like to quit smoking. And that you can do. Electronic Cigarette use is not smoking in any form. It may in fact have some detrimental effect and those facts will come to light. However we KNOW that smoking kills. And we know how it does the job. E-cigarettes do not offer the chemical - combustion combination necessary.

You may or may not have the will power to kick the nicotine addiction, but I contend that if any sort of replacement therapy was going to work for you, E-cigarettes would be the one. In the end it was my personal decision to give Electronic Cigarettes a try because reducing the chance of smoke based illness was Important to me.
